What is the deal with getting a good lighting timer? I have so many timers plugged into the power strips I can't figure out why nobody has figured out a good way to get it alll together! Does anybody have an answer? If I made a power strip with 6 timed outlets would anybody buy it? Help!

You can buy 4 pole time clocks that are computerized but they are really spendy! I have a cool timer...can't remember the name of it. But I got it at Incredible Pets in Sandy. It is shaped like a surge strip. It is set up so that two plugs are powered while two are not. Then when the first two are shut down, the other two come on. This works great for lighting my aquarium. One timer runs my display tank's lights )PC's) AND my refugium. That way when my main tank is lit, my 'fuge is dark. When my main lights go out, my 'fuge is then lit. All with the one timer. Of course, my MH's are on a different timer. I will check tonight when I get home for the brand of timer. ------------- =========== Shawn Winterbottom |

| I'll try and take a picture of my handiwork to get up for you guys. if you can diy you can make a pretty slick setup for not a lot of $$ using just those cheap $3 light timers you can find everywhere. |

| Alright, I'm going to try to build a prototype and bring it to a future meeting. I use 5 timers now, 2 MH's one for my refugium, one for actinic and one for VHO's. I leave the starlights on all the time becuase there's no room - ouch! I imagine that there are lots of aquarium fanatics out there who would love a power strip timer with 5-6 timers for individual plugs and 2-3 always on plugs...I'll post progress here. |

I got a copmuter that runs my tanks. And I did not spend much to do it. It runs my lights, pumps, heaters, wavemaker and my probs. |

Here is a link to what one of the other members has done. It will cost a little bit however it is much better in the long run than a power strip. It has two outlets for the daytime timer, two outlets for the nighttime timer and 4 "always on" outlets.
