The larger of my two pair of Bangaii Cardinals has just had their first spawning today. I believe I caught a glimpse of the male within minutes or maybe even seconds after he took the egg mass into his mouth. I'm very excited to share the news because almost a year ago I bought 10 small Bangaii with the intention of raising the young.
This is not my pic but it is so cool to see the egg mass in his mouth like that. The female is still being frisky with him, but he can't help her. He's busy mouthbrooding. Everyone is welcome to come over and congratulate the new parents.

Looking forward to doing this again. This pic is mine:

I probably shouldn't count my chickens [Bangaii] before they hatch. This is papa's first spawn.

We have a second spawn. It's been 7 weeks. The male couldn't hold the first spawn. In the week following the first spawn, the males mouth and jaw grew noticeably larger. Keeping my fingers crossed. Aloha
