So I just got back from Vegas and my wife and I stopped by the "Tanked" store and picked up a few things to bring home. We got a small rock with a few sponges attached to it along with this thing below. They didn't know quite what it was and neither did we. Any idea? Also got some GSP and awesome brain coral.

The thing on the rock? thats an anemone:) To be almost exact, i am almost positive its a rock anemone, but i may be wrong. some one was selling a some green ones, and they kinda looked like that:)

The guy said it could be a bad anemone but he wasn't sure. Still doing some digging on it.

How long have you had it? Has it moved much?

Just put it in the tank tonight. Was on a cool rock at a store in Vegas and he gave it to me.

Hmmm... He gave it to you, sometimes when something is for free, it may not e good, but still, it may not be bad. Idk.. I am no expert but maybe keep an eye on him if he moves(which i doubt) but dont let him get to close to the corals

It looks like a green people eater zoa/paly. If you don't want it I'll take it off your hands. Heck I'd even give you a couple bucks for it.

If you feel like looking, I'm pretty sure you could find it here:

By the way, how is the Tanked store? Would you recommend a stop if I were in Vegas?

I am thinking a pest anenome, not a paly - and I would get rid of it.
I have 3 similar that I need to remove from my own tank .
They do not multiply as quickly as the dreaded aptasia - but they do spread.
(I started with 1 maybe a year ago, and now there are 3...)

I agree with bob, probably a majano, as bob said they don't spread quick but they will spread. I had 1, 3 years ago. Now I have about 10 or so and need to get rid of them

Yeah, I'm going with Majano anemone as well...they're a pest anemone, but they won't get out of hand quickly unless you have a high nutrient tank. I saw them split almost weekly in a friend's tank...so just keep that in mind. Other times, they take months to split.

It definately looks like a rock anemone, they arent known to move much at all but they do split often in a well established tank. IMO i would keep it but just keep an eye on it.

Interesting, rock anemone or majano? I've been looking through pics of both online and they each have a few that look like this one. Probably better safe than sorry though.
Tanked was pretty cool, employees there were very very nice and we had a good time. Small store that sells mostly fish and has one long coral tank. Nothing special, but cool to get a piece from there and bring it home to have a story.

If it were ever a question between Rock and Majano and I wasnt sure, I would get it out! I wouldnt want to risk it! But that is just me!

So do you have to keep them away from everything? Feed regularly? Anything to know would be helpful.
