So of course the Vortec's are amazing and worth every penny - However I wanted to ask anyone elses' experience about using power heads such as maxi jet or koralia's as a wavemaker.

I have an apex I want to alternate them very quickly, but every model I've tried, even the new maxi jet pro's, when turn on and off they klunk and klank.

Anyone aware of some that don't make so much noise when you turn them on or off?

on my wavemaker, koralias work ok... BUT I've found that I have to run the 750evos on the WM to keep it quiet, still a slight audible noise, but you have to be right at the tank to hear it. my 1250 evos were definitely too loud.  If you were going to use them as wave devices I'd defiantly use 750's or smaller.

My other downside for Koralias is that the running backward problem becomes more apparent... tried all the cleaning/bushing replacement etc but I have one 750 that will come on backwards 1 out of every 6-7 times.
