I am pretty sure I have a Zebra Cowry.  I have been looking up pics and that is what matching it almost perfect.  Also, I have 2 Percula Clownfish.  I was wondering what the Zebra Cowry eats.  I was wanting to get an anemone for my clownfish but some told me that Cowries eat anemones.  Does anybody know if that is true.  Thank you for your guys time and hope to hear from you soon.

How large is the Cowrie?
It eats stuff on the live rock. Will eat some algae, a lot of sponge, and even a soft coral if it gets hungry.
What do you have in your tank?
How long have you had it set up?
That cowrie comes from Florida where, if I remember correctly, the only major anemone is the Condylactis.
Where did you hear that the Cowrie will eat anemones?
I have never heard that.

THe cowry is about 2 inches long.  I have 1 damsel, 2 clownfish, 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 Zebra Cowry, and 26 pounds of live rock.  It has been setup for 1 1/2 years.  The guy at the pet store told me that they eat polyups and he said that he thought that they eat anemones also.  He told me that he wasn't for sure because that they aren't in any of the fish books that they have and they rarely get them in the store.

I have a book that talks about them it said that the only
harm they can do is eat algae and sponge and other
critters on the live rock but. here is exactly what it
said
"It is not uncommon for worm shells to be brought into
the aquarium on live rock. If the tank is fully matured
and has good water quality, they live quit well and pose
no problems to other invertebrates."

But that is only one the other one is tiger cowrie and it
eats small invertebrates and can disturb the aquarium
deco.

If you want to check out a pick online type in "Cypraea
tigris" or "Serpulorbis inopertus" or you can get the
book at petsmart or barnes and noble it is called "The
complete book of the MARINE AQUARIUM" and the author is
Vincent B. Hargreaves

Hey another book is "Invertebrates a quick reference
guide" by Julian Sprung.

It said that when they get larger the can eat anemones
and clean the rocks bare and when the rocks are bare feed
them Nori.

If you want an anemone really bad just get rid of the
cowrie and take it to the pet store or find someone on
the site that would like it.

Hope very long posts helped you.

I wouldn't worry too much about a tiger cowry in your reef, but it will be hard to keep a good population of sponge (they do eat them from time to time).

They usually stay away from corals and are great algae eaters.

Would a Zebra Cowry be the same?  I do not want to get sponges, I just want to get a Bubble Anemone for my Clownfish.  So, if I get a Bubble Anemone it should be ok from my Zebra Cowry, right?
