I recently downloaded a beta version of the latest firmware of the ACIII from Neptune to run my iPhone app. Well, I came to work this morning and found that the tank lights were on. I thought that it was really strange, so I tried to access the light controls manually, but the controller was frozen. After unplugging it and plugging it back in to reset the controller, I see that the temperature was 88 degrees! No timer or temperature-induced light shutoff happened, because my controller was frozen. Yikes! Since this has never happened before, all I can think of is that Version 3.4 beta was the culprit. Just last week I had another malfunction of the controller on the same beta firmware version in which the RO topoff stuck on.

Every time the controller would freeze, I couldn't access it remotely. Now I know that's a bad sign. The corals in the tank aren't happy, but I've only seen one with any ill effects so far. All the fish are still there. The tank temp is now around 84 and falling.

Just a friendly warning- stick with Firmware Version 3.3 for the ACIII until Neptune works out the bugs. I already switched back to it.

The silver lining to all of this is that the temp swing got our clowns to lay eggs.
