I have had a cyano problem in my newly setup(1 and 1/2 months) 29 gallon tank for a while. Mark Petersen along with a few others have helped me out alot with this thankyou. I would like to get some opiniones on 2 things though. 1. How much flow should a 29 gallon have? I have 250gph powerhead pointed toward the surface (like in the just a powerhead post), and the return from my filter creates a nice ripple effect on the water surface as well, but I was wondering if I might need more.
2. I dont have alot of live rock maybe I have 20 lbs, I was thinking that adding another 20lbs to the tank might help any opinions?
As allways thanks for the advice if it weren't for all of you my fish would be dead!

I hae five scarlets about how many do you suggest? the cyano is only in the sand, and a little on some rocks

we put 5 in our 120 when we had the cyano problem. We tried quite a few times with flow but we kept getting cyano in a few spots!!! the scarlets are the only thing that took care of the problem. are you sure they are true scarlet hermets?? By adding rocks you will lose water flow in some areas creating dead spots I had a similar problem and removed a few pieces and it went away Hope that helps (Yet another TWT accident) ------------- (307)679-7898 Phillip Douglass 75 Gallon Reef Tank |

I had the same problem in my current tank. Once I increased the flow, it all went away. Flow was the only change I made. ------------- James Mellor Eagle Mountain 210 gallon reef |
