Hi!

I'm new to anemones and clown fish -- I just adopted a pretty small
percula and a bubble anemone and I'm curious how long it should
be before they find each other and become symbiotic buddies? - any
insight is sincerely appreciated.

thank you in advance...

Most of the time you just have to be patient, and if it's mean to be then the Perc will find itse;f a home. I have a perc in my tank, and added an Anemone which I thought would be a good home for it. It made it's home in a giant Frilly Mushroom I had instead. It's never taken an ounce of interest in the Anemone. All you can do is be patient, and hope.

Tank raised clowns are more common these days and less likely to use an anemone, since they were raised without anemones, IMO.
There have been quite a number of threads here on this subject. Suggest you search here and also get that really good book, what's it called... something like "clownfishes and their host anemones." Somebody correct me here, please.

Thanks Adam. That's the book I meant.

Joyce Wilkerson's book is about breeding and raising them, and darn good information too. My breeding and rearing went just as Joyce said in her book.

P.S. Adam, are those digital pics of our clown? Otherwise, I have a good photo scanner.

Excellent!

Thank you all so much for your insight and pointers, as well as identifying several excellent references.

I have great news - not 2 days into their new environment -- they were both introduced to the tank Saturday morning -- and my clown and bubble anemone have become symbiotic buddies!  I can't tell you how truly exciting it was to come home today and spy the clown nestling within the beautiful tentatcles of my new anemone.

Again, thank you.

I recommend Joyce Wilkerson's book Clownfishes.

When Adam gets on the message board and recommends Anemonefishes and Their Host Sea Anemones by Fautin don't listen to him.

Mark I have both film and digital pics.  Maybe I'll post some here sometime.
