i need to either buy or build an overflow chamber (? not sure what its called, but the acrylic box around the durso).   any thoughts, is it cheaper to build one or buy one?   anyone have one to sell, it is for a 30 breeder, so like 12" high, or does anyone have any scrap acrylic to make one?

I have one I'm not using you can have for next to nothing. It's custom made with most of the plumbing. Let me know if you are interested.

I cut out the teeth and put gutterguard around it to help it flow a little better, and keep snails/fish etc out of it. I built my own box on the back to incorporate a silent overflow, I guarantee you will not hear it. You will need a couple of bulkheads, a valve to control flow rate in primary drain and a little pvc.

Da#$ computer. I don't know what I was thinking. I have been trying to upload a pic of the other overflow I have. It is black plastic with 1 1/4" teeth cut in the top. It is 17 1/2" tall, 9 1/2" wide, and 3 1/4" deep.

unfortunately that one wont work.   the hole is drilled so that I would need one like 4.5 to 5" deep.    the quest continues

I could build one to your specs using 1/4" Black ABS Plastic.
