Ok so I got a Powerjet 7000 pump a while back and I was going to use it as my return pump for my 220. I will be splitting it to feed two returns through 3/4" flex pipe, I have a standard 55 gallon as a sump/refugium that is divided into 3 sections. I will be puting powerheads into the display but I am wondering if this is too much turnover for my sump/refugium. The pump pushes about 2200Gph and has a max head height of 15'. If I need to drop to a mag 7 or 9 I will but if this pump will work I will keep it and plumb it in. Any thoughts on the turnover on this? The drains from the display to the sump will be 2" pvc and there are two of them. I know I can put a ball valve on the return to choke it down but that seems like a waste to be paying to power this pump and only using it at half capacity, if I need to choke it off I will pick up a new pump.
I always recommend 5x sump turnover, but thats just me So 1,100 in your case. Most skimmers are not very efficient in high flow. what skimmer are you going to be using?

This is the same position I was in about a week ago. I decided there really wasn't any reason to drive that much flow through the sump, nothing in there really benefited from it since it wasn't a source of water movement.
I ripped out a 2nd overflow as a result of that decision too.
