A boost pump for increasing output would require a back pressure restrictor/valve of some kind so save that pump for something sometime....

Some RO units add a "boost pump" to take waste water back around to the supply side and keep it pressurized. Is this the kind of set up you have?

City water pressure is usually about 60 psi which is just fine for making plenty of RO water. There was a time when I worried about RO wastewater. Then I found out that the sewage treatment plants must add city water back into the sewage system to complete the job of treatment. Our RO waste water does not go to waste.

Or is the pump you have for moving water out of the storage drum to the tank?

If I understand what you spoke of here, an RO boost pump is not for moving RO water uphill. It is for increasing the output and decreasing the wastewater from an RO unit.

I don't understand. Are you speaking of the connection to the supply water? That requires tapping into the cold water copper tubing with a saddle valve.

Or are you speaking of waste water. The waste water from the RO unit is simple tubing that can be inserted into the drain cover.
