Troy/Pam. I have dealt with GSM skimmer and the best thing to do is to do the gate way mod. This allow you to make very small adjustment to the water level more affectively. Please explain this statement a little better. I don't understand what you mean because that's not what I do to produce drier foam. I lower the outlet tube.
The venturi air intake can get clogged with Calcium deposits. I ream it out with a small diameter grabber screw. This allows the skimmer suck the right amount of air to produce the proper foam.

Have you added any red slime remover lately? i have had this in my sump for several months and have never had this problem.  i dont think the height of the water is the issue.

I have a asm-g2 skimmer with a sedra 3500 (no mods).  I am becoming very frustrated with it.  I have it adjusted so that it is the least restricted and should be skimming very dry yet it fills the cup in just a few minutes.  Any suggestions as to what I should do?
