Did you mean Calcium Chloride?

On a typical tank using Peladow Ice Melt is just fine when water changes are regular. It's not worth worrying about, but if using it to grow a dense forest of coral I too would recommend getting the pure stuff.

I haven't tested in ages (OK - a few months) and went through what I have to test this morning.  Nitrates and Phosphates were 0.  Alk was 11 and my Calc was about 240 (oops).
 
So now I'm wanting to start dosing Calc but I know I can't afford the traditional LFS options.  I have been looking for CaCl2 and even called the local Chemicl store. (He's going to call me back if he can find some).  I've read the suggestions for Peladow, but if it's not carried locally, the shipping will kill that as an option.
 
Where do people get CaCl2 ? 
 
By dosing CaCl2, will my Alk go down?  Is that what I am reading about the two being tied together inversely?

Thanks for the answers everybody. Seems to me that levels of alk and calcium are a lot like underwear. Just depends on what works good for you. Smile (as long as you are within certain levels.) I'm guessing certain tanks do better with higher alk levels and others do better with higher calcium. Anybody ever had 2 tanks at the same time that liked to be at different levels?

Ca - 400 to 440 ppm
Mg - 1450 to 1500 ppm
 
I also dose Strontium and Iodide
 
The parameter that I have to monitor / adjust most frequently is Alk; the 'natural' range of the tank would fall to around 7 dKH without dosing
