I have one on order from Avast marine and will be here and installed tomorrow. Just seeing if anyone else is running one

Let me know how it ends up. That'd be wonderful.

I'm using a neck cleaner.... If my arm and paper towels count. I have to reach in there every few days.

That's the same method I use.

Adam has a mule for that? Dang-it. LOL

An automatic built-in sprayer to clean the neck is a good idea. Both MSM and Bird World use that. The neck of the ASM Skimmer in my system requires cleaning less than once/month and it conveniently separates from the main body and from the skimmer cup.

Soooo my review... I LOVE IT! I can skim the same for 2 weeks or as long as my venturi doesnt get clogged. The inside of my neck stays clean and clear. I run it every 4 hours for 2 minutes. That lets it go around my skimmer neck twice every 4 hours.

Which kind did you get, and where?  (if you don't mind)

I may have to consider getting rid of my paper towel method.

Correct Adam! My problem with the paper towel method was after 3-4 days i would start losing skim cause of build up in the neck

I have found that a 4 dollar glass cup cleaner works and aswome for me. Also I fill the collection cup will water and shake it.

I have some questions:
- If the neck is being kept clean by wiping the build up back into the skimmer compartment, this should result in more skimate in the collection cup, right? Are you finding it necessary to empty the collection cup more often? How often compared to before installing the cleaning apparatus?
- If this is the Avast Swabbie, I assume that skimmate collects on it too, so how is the Swabbie cleaned and how often?

My cup comes off and I rinse in the bath tub if it gets a nice 1/4" build up on it, personally I like the neck/cup a little dirty with a film, seems the other gunk has something to cling to as after I clean it I don't have as much skimmate/ the rate of gunk build up is much slower despite all the manufacturers recommendations to keep it as clean as possible - they probably recommend this in hopes you will drop/break and have to replace the cup, hahaha. j/k.

Mark, it has made my skimmate darker and more consistent. My collection cup is really big so my venturi always clogs before my skimmer cup fills. So i just empty the cup then. When i empty the cup i just clean the blade.

Bryce, that's the point of the swabbie/ neck cleaner it takes the gunk and build up off but allows for the film that gets cleaned off in relular water/paper towel method to stay

The reason i got it cause i would have to set my skimmer to skim way wet that way in a week in would start skimming dark
