Well I finally picked up some replacement filters for my RO unit. It had been almost 6 months since I replaced the pre-filters, so they were clogged. The sediment filter was a dark brown rust color, YUCK! My TDS readings for tap water runs around 260, but man the color of the sediment filter made me extra grateful that I use RO water on my tank.

LOL Me too.
I believe the red color comes from rusty iron.
Speaking of yuck, I've been using a skimmer on my 200 gal coral farm system for the past 8 months. Because of multiple soap and sunburn catastrophes where I lost almost all coral (several times), I'm reminded of how yucky the skimate can be.  "Skimmerless Mark" may never be skimmerless again, Wink at least on this system.

These are mine every month. I run 2 5 micron then 2 carbon blocks due to the volume of Ro water I use. The secondary 5 micron stays very clean so I know that very little is getting past the first one. https://scontent-a-pao.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/t1.0-9/1044214_10151439093851861_50692610_n.jpg" rel="nofollow - Yuck

Bruce, that is gross! Luckily I typically use about 2 gallons a day from mine, so they never get that bad.
