| I'm seriously considering a new tank purchase. I have the money now, and I have the wife's blessing on top of it. The wife REALLY likes the look of the new Red Sea Max S series, so do I. The problem is however, I'd rather have LED and it comes with 10 T5s. That's a lot of juice, and a lot of heat. Also, I'd like to have a controller to run the LEDs pumps etc. I'm pretty sure that I can put a controller into that tank easy, but the lighting really has me scratching my head. Lights are a big part of the expense, and I don't want to just throw them away. I really wish there was an LED option. The Aquarium has the tank on sale for $4000. the question is, if I went somewhat custom, could I build a similar tank with similar look for a similar price, with maybe a little extra for LEDs? |

I would talk to Eric at Aquarium creations and to Dion Richins. I had them build me a 300 gallon and custom stand. I think you might be happier with a build from them if you want to do it once and get it just like you want it. I am not sure I will ever buy a big tank not custom built. Only thing I would buy off hte shelf is a nano. That is my 2 cents worth, and with inflation, my opinion isn't even worth a cent!!! Mac |
