The best way to find exactly where it needs to be height wise, is to fill the system with freshwater, start up the return pump, and simply hold it snugly in place. With a coast to coast overflow, water usually can fill through the slats without causing much of a backup. I would place it about 1/4" below the plastic rim of the tank. Typically you don't want the water to be above the plastic rim, as the rims are not always waterproof. Just below the rim is usually where I aim to have my water level. ------------- 125g 90g 2x33g 34g What stores do I recommend? I could use some help from someone with tank building and overflow experience. I am starting a new build on a 40 breeder peninsula style. Heres a sketch of the overflow. Before I silicone it in, I just want to make sure I have it the right height. I want the waterline to be just above where the glass meets the plastic rim on the tank. So should the bottom of the slots on the overflow be the same height as the bottom of the plastic rim on the tank? Does this make sense? Flow will be about 850 GPH on a closed loop herbie drain. Any input would be great thanks!  ------------- Life is good....right? |
