I have a workhorse7 and I have 2x54watt T5s hooked to it that are on my main tank. What lighting should I hook into it for the fuge? And where can I buy it? I have old pcs and old 250watt MHs that are also an option and could get another ballast.

The more light the better for a refugium to do it's job right. The MH would be great but gets too hot for the typical enclosed refugium. What size are the old PC's and what size is the refugium?

The fuge is a 20 gallon tank connected to my main 90 gallon display. Maybe I could do a RDP with the old MH? Where can I buy t5 bulbs? The old pcs are 55/65 watt. I know that the WH7 can connect up to two more bulbs. Sorry if this is confusing  .------------- 90 gallon mixed reef My fish swim naked. |

It's making more sense.
Another ballast for the PC's would be needed if you do it reverse daylight. I prefer PC's for refugium lighting because of high light, low heat and economy. I believe Kris at Fish-4-U has some cheap T5's in fixtures that he wants to sell at cost. Tell him I told you about it. MH's are too hot for an enclosed refugium. I have interest in two 250 MH's. Mark ... They produce more per watt. I think just under with bulb for
bulb length, but you can fit more bulbs under your hood.  Plus, you don't replace them as often.

Who cares about a few measley watts when we run watt hogging MH's!
So do I understand that you can probably fit three T5 HO's in the same space as two T12 VHO's and the 3 T5 HO's will actually produce more lumens? And I just looked at the Fulham chart. T5 HO's are designated F39, F54 and F80. Which designation is the 48" size so I can figure how many can be run together on a WH7? What is the lumen output of a 48" T5 HO? Had to go look up the old thread where we talked about the specifics of T5s. http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1314&KW=T5 - Its Here . Sorry Mark .. I'm the wrong guy to ask how to wire them up ... I bet Jeff knows though! quick summary: if you were going with T5s over a standard 55g 48� tank you could fit 4x54W (total 216W) T5s (48"x11"x2.5�) for the SLS Tek-Light. which would put you at 17496 lumens. compared to something like a 4x110W (total 440W) VHO hood (49"x13"x5") at 19800 lumens. you might even be able to squeeze a 6x54W (total 324W) T5 hood (48"x15"x2.5�) over a standard 48� 55g tank which would put you at 26244 lumens. please correct me if I�m off-base about anything here� I�m still learning and this is also a question. Jons Chart: Lumen rating are done by bulb manufactures, although it would be interesting to do this ourselves too. Averages (from the top of my head...
