A couple updates pictures after getting the lights in place. I wasn't happt with just hanging the radions from the ceiling and I played with several options but ended up making a quick and dirty stand/mount out of black iron pipe. (I know, rust...) Right now it's just temporary but I was going to spray paint it a flat black but it's just been so cold recently that even my garage hasn't been a temperature I could paint in so I just got it in place.

Left side (black bar on right is overflow)

Lights were at the start of acclimation mode here. 50% @ max during the day. Ramping up to 75% over 3 weeks.

Notes:
-Queen Angel...I know (now) the tank is too small. She'll go to a friend's 210 soon enough
-A friend was making some side panels for the stand but has had some serious health problems in the family so he's been MIA. I don't need to fire him but I don't want to bother him with my "fish tank" so The stand is currently open and we are canopy-less.
-Not pictured - remote water change / top off in garage. 2nd MP40w. Skimmer upgraded from curve 7 to curve 9 to acknowledge total system volume rather then just display
-Chocolate chip star is in sump...want it?

Beautiful Angel by the way.

Thanks and we love "angel" too. We started looking for a corner/bow front for the spot our 40g was in but I love this tank and we feel it fit the spot nicely. Plus it's bigger and more flexible.
Ah, good question on the lights. Those things are bright and I didn't want to freak the kids out ;) and...these were taken right after I got the rack in place. We had been keeping the coral (including some frags from the frag fest) in my daughters BC29. I need to take some pics of the coral in the tank. I've moved things around a couple times now so I've waited but I'll post some soon.

Ahhhh. That's great. Wall mounted might work that way too and that would allow all kinds of movement during maintenance and easy to adjust as well.

Thanks!

nick801 inspired me on a few levels with a recent update of his tank thread. The least of these is reminding me to post a couple updated pictures.

Not a great FTS but it's the one that's handy.

anthias wash was running full speed with a line all the way around the rock

I've wanted a good picture of the sheik and his harem. I call him the sheik and the wife calls him danny. the girls are the pink ladies. frenchy, rizzo, and sandy.
This photo bomb is provided by 'bow' our young blunt nose/rainbow wrasse

Still looking for a good shot of just the 4 of them...

Thanks. I may as well submit it...done :) I'm not sure on the nem. It is mostly white with blue dots on the underside (I believe the spots place it in the Stichodactylidae family) and a yellow glow under actinic type lighting.

Almost I ran the vegas but, these lights are the Gen1 radion. In the first tank shots with the lights I don't have any coral in. To be more clear, I should have made two posts. One showing the lights. Then one talking about my light settings. I didn't put any of my frags in the display until after the lights were in place. The first pieces in were some zoas, birds nest, and an acro I don't know the name of. All from the Jan frag swap.

Weekend to do list...that probably won't happen due to too much scheduled scuba Maybe next week

frag tank calcium reactor GFO carbon

-Frag tank to be plumbed into the display and water change.
-Probably move the sump out to the garage while I am at it. I think this will put total system volume at a bit over 300g
-Carbon & GFO reactors are NextReef MR1
-Calcium reactor is a reverse flow CR622

Thanks, you are welcome to come by anytime but I've got nothing going on that compares to what you have. Things are a lot more stable with the reactor. Numbers are steady and I don't have to worry about dosing anything so I love that! Though I don't have much SPS at this this so I only run the reactor/CO2 for about 5 hours a day. (2 hours in the morning and 3 in the afternoon) One of my goals is to be able to safely (over)stock pretty fishes and still maintain a clean system for corals. From the start I knew that I'd need it to be automated whenever possible given how busy our house is. The reactor definitely aides in this mission so I'm glad to have it in place.

My Labor Day project...

After a couple disappointing failures of my Blowhole 1450 pumps I replaced them with two Waveline 6000 DC pumps from The Aquarium. though max flow is rated a little then the blowholes, I haven't seen it and the pumps just don't have enough push for what I want. They are great pumps for the short time I've had them and the ability to modify the flow is awesome but just not the best fit for me.

However, I'm going to upgrade my pump to one hammerhead so I thought I'd take a couple pics of the upgrade project.

Current Waveline pumps: Waveline DC-6000 "1585 GPH"
waveline DC pumps

Some of the parts for my upgrade: I know I have some extras and I'm sure there is a part I'm missing but I won't find out what it is until Lowes and Home Depot are closed.
Waveline to Hammerhead pump upgrade

The new monster: 6000 GPH Reeflo Hammerhead

I love the reeflo pump that I have on my system.  I did have a small problem with the seal but they have a new seal out to me with in 24 hours.

Good to hear! Sadly the Blowholes have been troublesome but The Aquarium has been very helpful in arranging replacements. I've heard nothing but good regarding the larger models.

My fish are all in hyposalinity QT but I did get a new carpet that I've been waiting to find. iPhone pics sure don't do this thing justice.

This is shortly after setting it in the tank.

If it's mouth continues to be open with its guts showing like that or it starts deflating I highly recommend you quarantine it and treat it with ciprofloxacin. Once the mouth starts gaping or it deflates without treatment it's pretty much guaranteed to die. Once they get over the initial acclimation I find them to be quite hardy. I can't tell from the pic is it a gig or haddoni?

Thank for watching out for me! This pic is literally <2 minutes after moving from acclimation to the display and his mouth is one of the reasons I took the pic right as I placed him. He's looking better. I have a FT shot the next morning I can post but it's hard to tell much detail as the lights don't promote a good iphone shot and I've yet to up load any better shots that are easily uploaded to the site.

Again, thanks

That Carpet Anemone is awesome.
I'm curious to know if the white Seabae Anemone is doing okay.
I posted in your current thread about the Dinoflagellate problem, but maybe I ought to say it here. I believe this heavily stocked tank will greatly benefit from the addition of a Sulfur Denitrator, in fact I see it as essential.

Aloha,
Mark Hug

Thanks Mark. I think it's pretty awesome too. I think the anemone you are talking about was my other carpet. (It was pretty bleached when I first got it) It was a Haddon's and not a Seabae but from the coloring of of some of the pics I understand that thought. It is still alive and doing well. I brought it to the folks at The Aquarium (LFS) as I didn't want anything ill to befall it as I restructured my tank. With all the sand movement and rockwork changes, it seemed prudent. It moved from the corner where I had it to the glass and it was easily coaxed off. I have also been on the lookout for a blue carpet and since I sure didn't want two so Brad was kind of enough to adopt it.

As to the reactor, right now my tank is literally empty of fish. My plan includes introducing a bio-pellet reactor this next week. They take a couple weeks to come "alive" and online so with my re-introduction of fish to the reef, the timing I hope works out well. I did study a bit and consider a sulfur denitrifier in the past but I understand a pellet reactor serves the same basic mission. Is that correct?

Was reading a bit about this. I'll watch it close and if need be I'll get it in the QT tank I have mostly ready. Thanks again for looking out.
