Subject: 25 gallon lighting questions

I picked up a 25 gallon from Sean today which we originally thought was a 29 gallon. i have questions about lighting it.

The tank is 24 1/4 x 12 1/2 x 20 3/4 which is the exact dimensions of a 25 gallon.

The tank had one power compact on it but after messing with it, it was getting wet on the wires and was unsafe for use and i didn't think it would be enough to keep most coral satisfied.

I would like to go with LED and have an already made <cheaper> solution. I am currently looking at

http://www.marinedepot.com/Marineland_Reef_Capable_LED_System_with_Integrated_Timer_Flexible_Mount_LED_Light_Fixtures_for_Aquariums-Marineland-AS330011-FILTFILDFX-vi.html

One of my questions is do i go with the 18-24 inch 21 LED fixture for 187 or the 24-36 inch 27 LED fixture for 277

Or is there something else anyone might recommend? i don't have enough experience with T5's or HM's to know if this would be the right fit for this tank.

Any advice would be great.

Also if anyone knows about HOB overflows and how to set up a good 10-15 gallon sump with fuge and skimmer let me know i could use the help i am too use to all in ones!

Thanks

I'd do a 24-36.... Or AI SOL! Lol. I love my sol. But that's just my opinion.

I would do a 24 inch t5s 4 bulbs for that size of tank, if your not stuck on leds.

That seems like a lot of extra money for 6w of power. I think the cheaper model would be adequate for your tank size. You could always add stunner strips or t5's later if you want more light or different spectrums.

What about checking out aquatraders.com they have beamworks which is identical to the marineland for half the cost. I ran one of their led lights on my 46 gallon bowfront and loved it.

That looks like a damn good deal chuck. Same watt same Lumens half the price. I think i will give it a try.

Also thank you everyone else for your input!

Now to figure out the sump deal and i will be set.

Check ebay there is a guy that sells the exact stuff aquatraders sells but seems to be next years models with timers for the same prices, think he goes by 'topdogseller' or something like that. I would post it but I'm at work and ebay is blocked by our firewall.
