I'm looking into doing an SPS dominant tank (bigger than all of my current tanks) and for starters I want to see what the favorite SPS corals are. So, what are your top 5 favorite SPS? This is a hard question to answer. Top 30 is a better question, haha. 1. Millepora( all colors) but I love Jared's Rainbow 2. Ice Fire echinata 3 pink lemonade 4 Red Dragon 5 Ultimate Stag Also, torts and Suharsoni are super sweet oh and Rasberry Limeade too. A large sps tank will be super awesome! I prefer getting less corals and allowing them to get huge but in a large tank you can do both. I could go on and on about sweet acros! I love all torts and monti caps. They are my weakness. I swore off SPS as they are so picky and even the slightest thing seems to make them die, but I somehow ended up with some monti cap again and so far it is doing great, so maybe I'll get back into it again one day...

Green Slimer- its just amazing to see at night under actinic and holds up to intense lighting during the day with nice color. Pink Lemonade (Acro)- Medium to slow growing... mine is currently in its encrusting phase and has not yet really taken to vertical growth- starting... but slow- Spendy compared to others Purple Tort (Color on this is VERY light dependent... I had it too high and it was very faded... moved it and its FINALLY turning a nice PURPLE!!!)- seems kinda slow growing but its been finding a place it likes so maybe it will take off now. Millepora (these are probably labeled as difficult for a reason but if you have success they are simply amazing looking)- SLOW growing Montipora Digita- (I found one that GLOWS PINK... SOOOOO COOL) Montipora Capricornis (plating)- Careful some are BORING... but there are MANY with very nice colors and I have a blueberry patch montipora that has a greenish flesh and BRIGHT purple Polyps! Look around there are some really really cool varieties but the rare ones are spendy for a montipora. GROWS FAST. RedPlanet Acro (tabling, AMAZING color)- This can handle INTENSE LIGHTING- one of only two in my tank that will not bleach front center and up high... the more light you hit it with the better it gets. Grows SLOW but with extremely intense light I have noticed it "taking off" if you look every month or two... I have had mine for 4 months and its now doubled in size from a 1 inch stub to something maybe 2 inches long now but with many tips. Actually can be had fairly cheap... widely available is probably why. Wish I knew the name... but I have a number of Acros that are kinda "normal" in that they are green with blue or purple tips... but I found a few that have colored polyps... one even glows under actinic very nice. Then... I would say that you can never go wrong with a cool Hammer and Torch coral (not SPS) but they ROCK colors. ------------- Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler -A.E. 57 Gallon RImless build in progress check the thread before if becomes boring and just full of nice pictures of colorful coral! |

new to the game, but i have a top two 1. Pocillopora!!! it is an amazing polpy fuzzy sps that is the center piece in my tank!! 2. ORA Neon Green Birdsnest!!! fuzzy neon action!!! just hot!! p.s. thanks Akira for parting with there!!  ------------- getting fishy?? 8016348673 |

Favorite that I have PearlBerry AD Crybaby Jake Keeperz spaghetti Green Slimer My blue tip SPS thats looks like if you mixed a ice fire echinata with a blue tip tenuis. ------------- Indefinite hiatus from sw aquariums.
