What's the difference in me using a couple 150w bulbs and a UV bulb, instead of T5s or MHs? Do they not do the same thing? ------------- [53] xGarrettxEdurancex |

Hey Garrett. I miss Murray. How is your tank? The reptile light is specifically designed to add heat and if I'm correct, also emit a low spectrum of UV light that kills parasites. Parasites are invertebrates. Typically we do not want to heat up the tank and kill invertebrates  Killing bugs as the water passes through the UV Sterilizer is different than placing the UV light right over the tank.  That said, one of the advantages to placing a reef tank in direct sunlight is that the natural low intensity UV light cleans the aquarium water and discourages parasites. Make sense? Oh and "aquatic" lighting as I understand your question, is designed to provide just the right spectrum of light that coral, inverts and fish are accustomed to at the various depths.
