| I bought a Christmas wrasse a few days ago and acclimated it into my 29 biocube. It swam around a bit and then dived into the sandbed. I have not seen it now for 3 days. should I be worried. does it surface in the middle of the night? Or could it be dead? Any insight would be appreciated, esp. from Tileman! |

Hi Barbara, We too have a Christmas Wrasse and he hides in the sand a lot. It took him a couple of days before he felt comfortable enough to come out and play for good. I hope he is ok :) Pam ------------- The only clowns I like are in my tank! |

That's what my yellow wrasse did an he still disappears from time to time. Should be anything to worry about. Wrasse are funny like that. ------------- Call or Text (801)834-3119 |

Its very common for them to hide in the sand for a.couple days. I wouldnt worry just yet ------------- Time waits on no one |

One thing I've noticed about wrasses like the Christmas Wrasse is that when they are brought in, they're so stressed that they often don't eat. They'll go into the sandbed to destress, but often their point of starvation plus staying in the sandbed for several days on end leads to death. Do you know how long he was at the LFS before you got him, and was he eating? Or...more likely...he jumped. I found a wrasse 6 months after I lost him...living in my overflow pipe. I found others all the way across the room lying as carpet jerky. | This is day 5 and no sighting. Any possibility it comes out at night to feed? I have a pseudochromis in the tank that's pretty dominant. Could that fish be an issue? |

My wrasses were definitely not nocturnal. In fact, they were all a bit like old people...in bed before lights out. | Amazingly! my husband saw the wrasse out this morning. He fed the tank and it ate well. But, it was not out for long. When I got home in the afternoon it was hidden again. I think the psuedochromis is a deterrent to the wrasse. Will continue updates. |

Wow! Glad he's OK! I keep finding my 6 Line in the overflow, such a pain to get her back out!

| We took a little movie of the wrasse on Sunday as evidence. But we didn't see it yesterday. I have! to get rid of the vicious pseudochromis who chases it relentlessly. Any takers? |
