I have a leather cutting that I got from the last seminar that is doing well, it has attached to the rock and has grown quite a bit in the last 2 months, I cant wait for this thing to mature. It has the coolest green polyps under my actinics, especialy in the morning. My question is about the brial vail netting that was used to hold the cutting in place. Should I remove it now? |

If you fill that the leather has attached enough to allow you to remove the brital vail, then go for it. John Fletcher "reefman" |

You will have to cut the bv from around the coral leaving some inside the animal! Depending on the compatibility of the rock it was placed on, the bv could have been removed at 4-8 days and by 2 months the "head" would already have formed to make it look "mature"! Sorry they didn't tell you this at the meeting. I use an elastic crossed over in the middle of the cutting to hold it in place on four points. When the coral has grown around the elastic, it has also attached to the rock. Then just snip the elastic on one side next to the coral and pull it out from the other side! |

I'm guessing that the head has already developed I'm realy just looking forward to it getting bigger. The stalk of the leather is starting to grow around the bv so I'll do my best to remove it. Thanks for you help |

| I already cut off the bv some of it is still inside the animal cause it was already growing around it. It is still attached to the rock (as far as I know I haven't seen it today) but I think it will be fine. I just didn't want it to inhibit the progress of the leather if that is even possible? |
