Hello Everyone-
Here is where we will take the Presidency nominations for the upcoming year.  Nominations will continue for one month.  Then, we will have to close the nominations so we can print ballots to be used at the March meeting.  For the club members who are not active on this site, I will also be announcing this at the next meeting (February).

Please email me, PM me, or just post here your nominations, and I will update the list by editing it below.

The Presidency will consist of a President, and Vice President, and at least 4 council members.  The council members will be taken by the highest number of votes.  After the presidency is elected they will gather and decide who will take on what tasks (like treasurer, public relations, newletter editor...). For an idea of tasks and positions the current presidency positions may be useful, and can be viewed by clicking on "Presidency" over there <---------

Here are the nominations so far

President
Adam Blundell

Vice President
Jake Pehrson

Council
Adam Blundell
Cortney Curran (gonzo)
Bruce Ewald (pistonfister)
Jon Finch (JFinch)
Robert Gordon (flashmc)
Jason Grange (reptoreef)
Shane Heil (Shane H)
Arjen Jonkhart (DutchDude)
Steve Lopez (sjlopez39)
Cody Pearce (Cody Pearce)
Jake Pehrson
Carl Pelletier (Carl)
Mark Peterson
Shane Silcox  (ssilcox)
Chris Singley (chrisslc)
Sean Spargur (SSpargur)
Will Spencer (wsinbad1)
Brad Syphus (tileman)
Diana Tabor (dianatabor)
Renee Weimer (weimers)

Monthly WMAS meetings, we have a presidency meeting about once every 3 months to decide what we'll do at the next 5 or 6 WMAS meetings.  We e-mail as a presidency fairly frequently.  Quick decisions that need to be made, that kind of thing.  It's pretty simple, Susan....

I second Tileman's nomination of Adam for president.  And would like to remove my name from consideration.  Adam does a GREAT job in this function.

But I would be more then willing to help out on the counsel doing whatever needs to be done.

I hope Jon doesn't mind me sharing the news. He has been promoted to Unit Operations Manager which is like second in charge at Flying J Refinery.

So if Jon can't be WMAS Pres, well Adam, you're still the man. My ex even votes for you. She liked your recent article. She often asks how you and your sweetie are doing.

I'm not sure if Adams list above was nominations or not. If so, I second those nominations but if not:
I nominate Susan Matney and Renee Weimer for WMAS Council.

Steve, you are the nicest guy! You need to bring my Chelsea

I am going to decline the nomination, though. I'm still sorta
hurting about last years election.

I truly love the club and what I believed we stand for, so I'm
planning a club protest for us! Roberts Crafts sells dead, dried
fish (not just any fish, an endangered species!) for trickets and
craft projects. I'm trying to get them to take them off the shelves.

Everyone that has been nominated is so fantastic. It's always the most difficult thing to have to choose just a few of them.

I would like to second the nomination for Pistonfister.

He is a total asset, always willing to help out whenever and wherever! P's knowledge and willingness to learn is what the hobby is about. The fact that he is eager to share his knowledge is what sets him above the crowd.

Plus, he plays well with others.

First of all I would like to say how impressed I am with what the presidency has done with the club.  Adam is an awesome president and I hope that he continues to lead this great group of people.  This club would also be no where near what it is today without this website and I am glad that we have someone like Jake to continually maintain it.  I would also like to thank the many other people who have put countless hours into making this club work.

I have been a member for the past year and a half and have had a reef tank for two and a half years.  However, I've had a freshwater tank since I was ten and have loved anything with fish since.  I don't post to often, but I make sure to check out the website everyday and read through the new posts.  Right now I am finishing up my degree at the U.

As I read the post about "Life without this club" made me realize how much more colorful and healthier my tank has become since being a member.  If you think about how many corals this club has saved and grown is just breathtaking.  Most of my corals have come from frags since becoming a member.  I remember when I first started out in the club and had Mark give me a call to help me out with my algae problem.  Thanks Mark.  Don't we all have first time Mark story ?  I have been to many members homes to buy frags and check out their tanks as well as many have come to mine.  I hope to see many more along with how the ones I've already seen have improved.  I was on the reef tour and enjoyed having people over to see my reef.

I am writing this because I would like to give back to this club and donate more than just the $24 dollars a year membership fee.  I would like to volunteer myself in any place that the club needs.

-Cody

Cody-
As president (and currently the only nomination for pres again) I really try to stay out of this.  I don't want any posts from me in favor or against anyone in the election.  But I have to say your post was most generous, and pretty well summed up my thoughts of what the club has done for me.  An attitude like that is not what we need, but what all organizations and businesses need.
Well said,

I don't think we'll have an online voting.  I'll have to check that.  What I may be able to do is have you tell me one person you are voting for that you trust.  Then tell them who you are voting for and I can give them your ballot as well.  Maybe???  I don't know, just thinking off the top of my head.

A couple of you just mentioned that you want to vote.  I agree, you do want to.  Really, you will want to vote.  Not just because it really helps guide the club and choose leaders with ideas you agree with.  In addition there is a prize drawing for everyone who fills out a ballot. And I know what the prize is.

We considered do that last year, but decided it would be too hard to control as some people don't get on the web page, and only paid members can vote.

The ballot system also allows us to easy enter you name into a prize drawing.

I'm just bumping this because there is about a week left to nominate people.  I'll encourage everyone on voting day to really think about who will put forth time and effort into the club.  Also just as important is who will really represent you and the way you think the club should be run.

There are lots of projects, like helping with the Annual Reef Tour, that don't take an all year commitment. The council people need usually give only a spare hour or two each month. It's your personal viewpoint on club matters during presidency meeting that is so valuable.

Bruce, I know her! (She's really weird, but kinda cute in a rotund
healthy sorta way!) The seahorsewhiperer is friend of mine, too!

Adam, you KNOW I am declining the presidency nomination. I
just wanna help without actually being Mrs Big! ( BIgger?)

Steve, are you running? Is your schedule going to let you hang
with the ultimate weirdos?

Jeff, if I kiss you, will your wife beat me up? (Don't worry, my TB
kooties are in remission!)

Suzy, originally when you nominated me for secretary about 4 years ago. I told Mark (then president) that I would only be able to make about half of the meetings due to my unusual work schedule. Instead I ended up using vacation and was able to make 90 percent of the meetings for the next 3 years. Last year I had issues outside of the club and vacation from work has become tougher to get nowadays than it used to be. I feel like I have dropped the ball big time as our secretary this past year. If I am nominated I would like very much to be on the council. My meeting availability will be about 50% this year. That's all I got to say about that.

p.s. I would like to take you up on the suction cup offer.
