Is there currently anyone on the board that is running the Zeovit system?

I remember Flaz asking about this recently.  I don't think he found anyone local with that type of system.  He'd be the one to talk to.

i have recently been reading into it,  it sound pretty interesting and does not sound like it would cost too much to get started on it.  Also some of the pics of other reefers tanks that use it are amazing and have very bright colors        Riley

I just ordered it yesterday to try. I will let you know what I think. It was a little expensive though. I will be running it on a 200 gallon system. I paid about $360 to get started.

Lets just say that this SPS addiction is worse than alcahol. Combine that with a need to always "tinker" and the thoughts of "can I improve my system if I add this" and you have the recipe for a very expensive habit.

I've been wondering about this a bit for the last couple of months ... I have run across a couple of threads on RC where people are using ZeoSpur2 &/or Amino Acid High Concentrate alone with good results. I sent a zeo rep a question about this today.

Please post updates as you go ... I'd love to see some coral pics as they adapt to the new system!

One thought that did occur to me, that may not be applicable in your case ... What do you think the effect will be (on the coral) when you give a frag from your tank to someone that is not using the zeo system?

I dont think it should have that much more of an affect on the frag because really all that the Zeovit is doing is making your water very nutrient poor, so as long as the reciever of the frag has an good skimmer it should not cause tooo much stress on the frag.  That is just my 2 cents which isnt worth much    Riley

here is the reply i got from the zeo rep:

I have a few people that are just useing the amino acids (w/o zeovit)

I would expect to see better polyp extension , better coloration , and definetely better growth.

The zeospur2 has the ability to make corals expel zoozanthelae, thus creating a lighter coral (less brown) and allow the pigments to show more fully. I have no experience with anyone useing the zeospur2 alone (w/o the rest of the zeo products).

does anyone have any other specific info about how the amino acids would work?

Corey-
You could try just buying amino acids from GNC and adding them to your food.  I would use praline, glycine, and glutathione.

Thanks Adam. Could you point me to any articles relating to reefkeeping and amino acids?

Okay so not what you were expecting.
I think Borneman does this most with this, I'd contact him at RC for more info.

Hey Wade - how's the Zeovit barebottom system going.  It's been several months since I saw it.  How does the coral look.  What's the maintenance and cost like?
