I moved my RO unit 2 days ago into my fish room and have already had 2 floods....GRRRR.....the first I think the pressure was to high and one of the tubes came out of the pressure fitting.......So I put a pressure gage on and YEP needle hit the max so fast it was crazy.....so I put valve on the inline and turned it down until pressure was set at 60 psi....then last night I guess the float switch in my bucket is faulty, and the valve as well....since before I went to bed I thought I better just close the valve just in case....well the bucket was overrunning this morning......VALVE WAS OFF????? looked at the pressure gage and it read 15 so valve must not close completely.....FLoat in bucket was up so must be defective......GRRRRRR I have plenty of room to add a 50 gallon barrel to have as a Fresh water holding tank how or what would be the best way to set up ATO......?????

I used a solenoid on my RO output line. http://www.autotopoff.com/solenoid/ - http://www.autotopoff.com/solenoid/ I try to plan for the worst, so I'm going to add a second one in line, so they'll both activate at the same time, in case one sticks open. It's also on a simple clock timer so it can only run for a half hour a day in the event the float switch sticks and the backup float switch also sticks. I seen this all the time and this is why I would never do a direct connect from and RO line to my SW tank. My solution is simple. I have a ATO that feed the tank and holding tank last me about 7 days. ------------- 200 Gal Reef 25 Gal Nano Reef |

Third flood! I have now just completely shut the water off to the RO unit! This flood happened while gone.....TANK on TOP floor.....My closet right under the tank....well everything was SOAKED! it was a nightmare!!! This time the pressure must have blew the line out of the pressure fitting!

The pressure in your house shouldn't exceed about 55 psi. Your water regulator on your home is bad!!! Get it changed out asap. They are about 50 -70 bucks at home depot or lowes. Your house pressure shouldnt be more than 50 to 70 psi. Also dont use Lowes or Home Depots water line its super cheap and the burst rate on the tube is terrible, I know it flooded my kitchen and destroyed it! Get tubing from Mountain Staes thats actually designed for water lines to your fridge, it holds more pressure and isnt the cheap stuff. It comes in 100 foot rolls for like 15 bucks, which is cheap insurance! LMK if you need any more info I would be glad to help. ------------- The time we enjoy wasting isn't wasted time!!!! |
