How long should I keep active carbon in my tank before replacing it ?

I heard every 3 months. I do it every 2. Check with mark peterson.

You can replaced once the carbon starts filling with gunk that means the the pores of the carbon are used to the maxed. I replace mine every month to keep it fresh

Depending on the flow around it, Activated Carbon can be 80-90% used up in two weeks. After that it's simply a place for bacteria to colonize.
