I decided that it might be good for the forum to have an LED growth post, this way people can learn about this new technology in lighting. I will be using my Biocube 14 as an example, which currently has 12 x 3w Cree XRE LED's (6 White and 6 Royal Blue)
Here are the first shots of the corals, the Anemone and the Acro frag i picked up today, the rest of my stuff has been in my tank between a few weeks and a few months.
I am still working on capturing the right colors on my camera, hopefully this will be something I can improve on over time.
I will try to update this section once a week
I'll be posting more pictures later, but since my camera just died, i'll post the most important one.
If you have any specific coral growth requests, please let me know
Here is the Pink Acro that I picked up from Kellerexpress today

Just make sure you take the pics at the same angle. Maybe with something behind it

I was going to do this same thing when I get my LEDs done.  I'm going to set up a rack full of different frags as well just to monitor their growth.

What lens, and what depth do you have the frags?

Indefinite hiatus from sw aquariums.

Once I have my glorious return I'll set back up the following.
50 Gallon rimless cube.

Feel free to contribute with your Par38 if you like Kevin, this is an open thread for anyone with LED's to show growth.

Oh and Laird,

My current LED Setup is not running any optics. Frags range anywhere from top of tank to the sand. (from reading reviews I should be getting around 500 par on the top and 200 on the sand without optics.

I'll post more pictures as soon as I can get a hold of my wifes camera.  I have already seen 1 1/2 more heads appear on my brain coral Big smile

So its been three weeks, I have been very busy, but with a nudge from Jeff (thanks again by the way) I am back on track, and will start posting pictures of this stuff weekly.

Please note that I am still trying to figure out how to get good pictures of my tank under LED's. Colors are coming out inaccurate, and so I have been taking pictures with my cellphone, I should have time to get this figured out this week, so all the colors should be a lot closer to how they actually are.

Pink Acro

As you know, this coral I picked up right after I got my LED's, and its been through a lot (temperature fluctuations because I didn't have a heater, light acclimation from Metal Halides.etc)

Day 1

Day 21

Obviously you can tell this coral is still under a bit of recovery, since I almost killed it with almost 10 degree temperature fluctuations.etc

Green and Pink Finger Leather Corals

Light Blue Candy Cane Coral

I don't have "before" pictures of the brain coral, but it has grown 25% in size since I picked it up from Chad

For these next three corals, I will be specifically watching these, they were acclimated to T5's and have been responding great to my LED's for the last three days (besides my anemone deciding to run them over Dead)  Coloration has been looking great, seeing a lot of polyps show up on the Digitata, and I am excited to see how the Acro fares.

Bluetipped Green Acro (I will upload better pictures to show coloration when I get my d40x back after my sisters wedding)

Florescent Green Digi

Green Tipped Birdsnest

Oh, and just for fun, though completely off topic, I built my jawfish condo this week, but my blenny decided that he liked the home.  So I will be postponing my Jawfish experience until my 40 Breeder is up and going

Watch that green digitata! It will should grow fast! I can get you some orange or pink digitata for cheap if you'd like (from my tank). I'd be really interested to see how the pink looks under LEDS.

Thats the only drawback by doing this with a nano, I usually never need to dose anything as weekly water changes put my params back up to where they should be. Or so my testing has shown me in the past.

I have Marineland leds. 6w and 3bl. I have an orange sps, 4acros, a leather, 2 mushrooms and a finger leather and Gorgonian. I'm having trouble with the Gorgonian but it's not due to lighting. Everything grows just fine for me. I enjoy the natural light look. I dig the rippled look on the bottom of the tank. When i look at the 20gal. I'm no longer impressed with the fluorescence.
