has anyone used a xenon hid light? I am trying to make a fixture useing 4 150 watt hid xenon bulbs. I found true daylight spectrum. I think they might work. I also made a fixture using 650 led truebright bulbs it looks cool but I dont think it has the power the xenon has.

Never heard of it, but it sounds interesting. Let us know how it goes.

Cool Idea. I found some Xenon Bulbs for Car Head Lights with K Rateings between 3,000 and 12000K at http://www.shopxenon.com/vi_120.htm - http://www.shopxenon.com/vi_120.htm

Also found a thread on 3 reefs of a guy who tried it. http://www.3reef.com/forums/reef-lighting/diy-xenon-light-under-75-a-67110.html - http://www.3reef.com/forums/reef-lighting/diy-xenon-light-under-75-a-67110.html

As far as architectural lights I couldn't find anything on the K ratings of these bulbs but they appear to be around 3000K which is too low for reef lighting.

Be sure to keep us posted if you try it.

Check this thread out. Its a series on a guy that used Xenon Car Bulbs, Projectors and LEDs to light his tank. He was able to light just the reef itself and not the glass giving the tank the appearance of floating in the air. http://glassbox-design.com/2009/part-1-lfps-xenon-and-led-reef-lighting-system/ - http://glassbox-design.com/2009/part-1-lfps-xenon-and-led-reef-lighting-system/
