I'm going to try this .  It looks like it could be an awsome way of cleaning the acrylic tanks that we all hate to clean.
I thought I would let everyone here look at it and decide.  I'll let you know how it works.

Yikes... Mr. clean magic erasers most definitely have chemicals in them!  A quick google search turns up lots of pages that say they have ammonia in them and the box has a do not use with bleach warning..... yikes..

I'll cross my fingers for you!  If ammonia is the magic ingredient, maybe there isn't enough that our tanks can't handle it?

The lady in the thread had said she has been useing it for six months and nothing was wrong with it.  I googled and all the stories I saw were just rumors.  I'm not worried.

Yeah, and Magic Erasors take crayon off the walls really good. I've gone through a box of them while cleaning walls that were doodled on like paper.

I tried it on my Acrylic tanks last night.  It worked great!  I hand a lot of algae buildup that I haven't cleaned for a month and the magic eraser worked munch better then my plastic scraper.  It took about 1/4 of the time using the eraser and it was much easier.  I still had to use some elbow grease but it not as much.

Thumbs Up  I like it!

I'm so all over this.  Going to try it tomorrow night on the office tank.

Thanks!

I tried this today on my 225

As luck would have it, I have been working so hard on "upgrades" to the setup that I have actually neglected the setup a bit (if that makes sense)

Anyway, my panels were rather grungy.

The Magic Eraser works awesome on removing non - coralline type algae from acrylic... definitely the best and easist thing I have ever used... truly 'one pass'  cleaning ability on that front. Plus, great at getting into corners and joints on an acrylic tank (I'm sure it would be great on glass as well...)

I di not see / smell any kind of "chemical" or see anything "oozing out" while under water. Several hours later I noticed no ill effects whatsoever in my tank. I'd say they are perfectly safe...

Pricewise, you get 4 'erasers' for $2.49 and you can cut them in half (I did) - so 8 pieces... and IMO you can use each piece 3 or 4 times before it is used up (maybe more with a smaller tank), so if you clean the tank once a week a box should last a few months.

Only dissapointment for me - compared to the results claimed on that link - was that IMO these will not work on coralline algae. Maybe if you scrub really hard? IME it was easier to hit the coralline with my Kent Scraper.

But the Magic Eraser beats any "acrylic-safe" sponge I have ever tried hands down on any other kind of algae buildup...

Thumbs Up

I used it today also Bob, and I have to agree. The coraline was tougher to get off than I was hopeing but I thought it did a great job.
