So i'm thinking its time to build a canopy for my 150. I just have a few questions for those that have built their own.
1. What size wood did you use for the main structure? 2. How high did you make it from the water surface? I'm sure i'll have more questions as i get into the construction. Or would it be cost effective to buy a perbuilt one? ------------- In Clearfield Quantum mechanics the dreams stuff is made of. |

ours cost 100 bux to build. but we used cabinet grade wood, trim, and it is on a 200 cube. either way it would of cost teh same amount for a smaller one * you buy the wood as one piece*that was with hinges. we still have to find some locking hinges or shocks to put on it. on how high it is it depends on if you are running halides or not and how high you want/need them off your water. ------------- I <3 Boxers Achilles tang lover |

our canopy is i think 22 or 23 inches tall. it is going to hold two lumenbrights and we wanted the actual halide bulb to be about 16 inches from the water. we'll see how it works once i get the reflectors in the mail ------------- I <3 Boxers Achilles tang lover |

| Well - be sure and post pics. What I have on my 225 is slapped together from the previous owner. I did a couple of mods so it's a lot more functional, but I really need something with doors etc or access so I can get into the tank without having to go *over* the canopy. |

If your around Layton, I would suggest going to Aquatic Dreams and looking at the ones that we supply. They are all built out of 3/4 material with flip up fronts. You will learn more than if I sit here and explain.
I do have a bamboo hood and a black lacquer hood in the shop at this time if you want to swing by and look at them.
