I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this site for all of their
help. As some of you may know I am in Chalreston,SC. I
thought that I was "club-less" and so I adopted the WMAS (could I
have found one further away?). But little did I know that that
"Charleston Reefers" president lives just down the street from me.
My first meeting is on Sat. and I can't wait!! Though my boss still
gives me a funny look when she sees the "charleston reefers
meeting" written in on my to-do calendar, i had some explaining to
do. WMAS will always be my first reefing club! If anyone ever
wants some carolina macro-algae (with all the critters in it) will be
happy to send some along. And if anyone is ever in the area (by the
way charleston is a great place to vacation, esp. if you love to shop!),
please give me a call, I can give you a grand tour of the city. My first
job here as a freshman was as a carriage tour guide.

django, how I miss the Carolinas. I still own a home in NC, I guess I need to get back there and see if it's still standing. Glad that you found a resource closer to you, hopefully they will enjoy you input as well. I might be interested in some of that macro with a drawl. Maybe an option is to send one shipment to the presidency and they can pass it out during a meeting? Thanks again and Good luck!

when is your next meeting? I can send a bouquet. The cold shouldn't
be that big of a deal since they're in a cold ocean right now. As long
as it doesn't freeze. by the way I don't have a a sothern accent (or
much of one), I am a transplant.

I seem to have lost mine, until I get around a bunch of rednecks... Then I sound like Larry The Cable Guy. I think that the next meeting is February 5th... Yeah, it is. A smorgassboard (how the heck do you spell that anyway?) would be awsome! Let me know if you need any help. I can trade you some Carolina BBQ (eastern NC recipe). Thanks again!

Carl the correct spelling is smrgsbord. In the original Swedish anyway.
djangoboots, glad to hear you found a club so close by. I never would have thought there were so many people in my area that were as obsessed with tanks as I was. Hope they enjoy your company as much as we do. Don't let that take all your time away though, we still want to hear from you occasionally.

Hey, Carl! What does that mean? And what is a Def Leppard?

I sit corrected, it's actually "Gunter glieben glauten globen"
Suzy, I haven't the slightest idea what it means. I tried translating it but I don't think that the source language is even Dutch. As for what a Def Leppard is, it started as Deaf Leopard and then Joe Elliott got drunk I guess.

Legend has it that it means "one, two, three, four". As in 1,2,3,4 start playing and recording. Mutt Lange got bored of saying 1,2,3,4 before begining a recording so he started making up nonsense words and it just stuck. But who really knows. What I do know is: I got something to say, it's better to burn out then fade away...

Give me an address and I'll send a box. I can get insulated boxes for
free, just need to figure out what it'll cost to ship. I think it would be
fine going priority since it really doesn't have to stay warm as long
as it doesn't freeze. I'll send as much as I can fit in the box!

Unless the presidency has objection, I will send my address by PM and I can also pay the freight since I kindof started this. Adam, Jake, Mark?
Django, Maybe a local LFS has a heat pack that they can throw in or sell you, I will pay for that too. Thanks again!

Do you think it will really need a heat pack? The water here is pretty
cold. I should think if I sent it 2-day it would be fine in an insulated
box.

Not so sure about sending macros. They've been in my fuge for a
few weeks now and a bunch have died off. There is one variety that
seems to be doing fine, but I had to pull the rest out. Not sure if you
guys are still interested. I can try and get only the variety that has
lived, but I can't make any promises. I wonder if it's a temp. thing,
water here is pretty cold right now. Good thing is that my pod
population is booming since I put the local macros in, so for that
reason you may still want them. Let me know if you're still
interested. I am intrigued to see if the ones i get this summer live.

Cool, I just don't want anyone to be disappointed if the stuff doesn't
live. I think it's worth it though at least for the bugs.

Actually, this time of year is a poor time to ship this stuff unless you pack it with plenty of warmers. I once got 50 mangroves in Jan. or Feb. that were left on the doorstep by UPS and they all got so cold they died. The replacement shipment was also left on the doorstep, contrary to instructions.
It's just so cold in transit that it would be safer to wait till warmer weather. I don't know what the shippers do to keep stuff warm but if you ship please find out and follow that method.

Is it to late to chime in with "it's a pyromania"
Suzy I think I read years ago that the Bands name Def Leppard was derived from Joe Elliot being influenced by Led Zeppelin and wanted to name the band similarly.

That doesn't come from your own personal affinity for all things plant/page/jones/bonam?
(for me everything went downhill after "High and Dry" anyway...)

Hey guys!
I have been wicked sick for the past week and I am just now getting
back to work. I noticed that your meeting is on the 5th. I don't think
I will be able to get that package out by then. (i have 2 weeks worth
of laundry that still needs to be done). Let me know when your next
meeting is though and I can shoot for that.
Sorry
