What kind of ballast do you have? (Make/model - or if you know, if it is a pulse start or probe start) Do you know the mfr of either of the bulbs?

How long did you let it try to fire the bulb? sometimes when I put a new bulb in mine (really old magnetic dual bulb ballast) it takes quite a few tries to light it and keep it lit.
