I just got a small powerhead to help with my surface water movement in my 30 gal. However it doesn't have any suction cups with it. I need to be able to stick it to the glass at an upward angle and am wondering what I could use. I don't care if it becomes permanant either. I was thinking about the playdough style epoxy, but where do I get some? any other ideas out there?

I would epoxy a suction cup to the powerhead like you said. I've not had great luck with the clay expoxy. Frankly I think it is ugly and I have never been able to get anything to stick permanently with it. The "power" of the powerhead would probably remove it from the wall within a couple days anyway. I found the clay epoxy I got at the pet store in Riverton for what it's worth. |

Keep your receipt and take it back to where you got it. In my experience, I have never purchased a PH or in tank device that did not have the ability to attach. Worse comes to worse, Aquarium safe glue or silicone may be the answer to attaching suction cups. Good luck. ------------- In Syracuse "I believe that forgiving them is God's function. I'm with Carl on this one. I've only bought Maxi-Jet PH's and they have all come with suction cups. If you glue anything to the one you just bought, that may void the warranty. Just my .02 ------------- Sean Spargur West Valley, UT |

Hang it with fishing line tied to the pump in the right spots and brought up and over and hooked to the outside bottom edge of the upper frame. (wrap the line around a toothpick and shove it up between the frame and glass, then break the toothpick so that it doesn't look like a toothpick stuck up there and people wonder and pull it out...crazy but it works and is practically invisible.
The electrical cord can also help hold it in position by giving it a tight bend where it goes over the frame! If the powerhead has an outlet that swivels the pump can be turned sideways and the nozzle turned up to shoot along the surface. A stronger pump can be positioned behind rock near the bottom and pointed almost straight up toward the suface. This is ideal because it brings water from the bottom to the surface. Acrylic pieces can be bent or glued just right to provide a stronger support, but they are visible while fishing line is invisible Hope this helps. 
BTW a powerhead that has no suction cups or bracket supplied may be a pretty cheap one and may not last long. Be careful because it may be so cheap that the cylinder magnet that turns the impeller can rust. This is not good!

| I just went back and traded it out for one that had a suction cup on it. Decided that it wasn't big enough anyways. But thanks for all the suggestions. I'll keep them around since it might come in handy again. |
