Callerpa

Hi,

Ijust had a couple of questions, I was at wasatch shadows and they had me buy some callerpa for my tangs, I have three, a hippo, sailfin and a naso, and a rabbit fish.

I had no way of storing it so I bought a small fish holding container and drilled some holes in it and then put it down in my sump.

Ihooked it so it wouldn't tip over but water is running through it, I also went to Lowes and bought a 25 watt under the cabinet halogen light where it has two bulbs in it and a switch so that you can run one light or both.

My questions are, will this keep the plants living untill I use it up? and is it good for my tank, and do I keep the light or lights on all the time?

Do you mean you were at Mountain Shadow Marine (MSM)? I don't think MSM has any talking trees!

What you have done is create a refugia in your sump. The term and technique, RDP Refugia, is used often. The idea you may have actually seen there at MSM. (Randy Olsen, owner of MSM, first saw it in use in my tank during the 1997 Reef Tour.) They have the lights on at night over the algae. This is very beneficial for the system.
