Last week a couple of my  clown fish had white spots on there eyes(ICK).Luckily for me I meet Adam for the first time and was talking to him about it, and he gave my a pill of garlic to mix with my fish food. WOW, the ick is all gone. Now I'm just wondering if I should keep using garlic as a food supplement for my fish cause this stuff works great.

It is good preventive medicine and the fish love it also.  I try to add it in my fish food at least once a week.

What type of garlic do you use? Where do I get it and how much should someone add?

I use the Kent product, Garlic Extreme, and add a few drops to my flake food with a little water and let it soak in, and then feed. You can get it at any LFS.

I juice my own home grown Ultra-Organic garlic. U-O means that zero herbicides and zero pesticides were used that’s the way we farm. You can purchase garlic from your favorite source and process it through a juicer. The only draw back is it must be refrigerated after processing, no preservatives. Does anyone here fish, ever purchased garlic scented bait of any kind, it just plain works to entice a strike. There are many reasons to utilize garlic for the health of your fish; external parasites and appetite stimulant are just a few reasons.  We're waiting for a new crop now, should be ready in a couple of months along with the asparagras.

I've got fresh garlic cooking in my garden from last year!

Maybe we could do a veggie swap?!

And if one garlic product doesn't work within a few days, switch to another one, but I still need to hear of someone having success with fresh squeezed garlic. (sharkbyteshaz?)

Success, Success, Success! I am quite partial to my own Ultra-Organic garlic but other garlic will work, it just isn't as potent. I use it as an initial and a preventative dosing. I supplement the garlic directly to the food, it can be added directly to the system but that can cause the need for an early water change. What type of results are you looking for? Healthy fish, I have them.

Does anyone think that adding garlic to the food would have an adverse effect in a breeding tank?

The fish can't be too happy with each other with all that garlic breath!
