It's Sponge. A wonderful beneficial animal. I've seen it hundreds of times. Below is a good pic. This pic came from a hobbyist post on wetwebmedia.com. Notice the stalked anemones in the left corner above the Sponge. They look like Duncan Coral polyps, but there is no skeleton so I believe they are Colonial Anemones. I've had them in the past, similar to but much larger than Majano. Like Majano, they can overrun a rock. Unhappy

Here is another variety of Sponge that grows quite commonly in mature tanks. These pics are mine. This same Sponge is white in the shade and turns dark green in the light. I believe that is because in the light it harbors/grows a dark green zooxanthellae algae. Coincidentally, the tank with the dark green Sponge also had Colonial Anemones of the yellow variety. Smile

i have pineapple sponges, and i kind of like them. What i'm seeing is more like white strands of dryer lint and cobwebs. i'll try to get some pics tonite.

hey all. The other day during routine inspection of the tank, i noticed on the underside of some of the rockwork that there was some white fuzz growing. Nothing noticed on the sides exposed to the light. Is this a chemistry issue or do i have something weird growing?
