Got it!

Online still showed "not in stock" for 7 stores. Dropped by the Taylorsville store to check and they held the bucket for me until I could contact customer service. Returned to the store same day and purchased a bucket of reef crystals for $25 plus tax.

Smile At my insistence a PetsMart Customer Service Supervisor (Randall Brinkley for future ref) agreed to give me my bucket of reef crystals the next time they have some in stock and he offered it to me for $25. The catch is that I have to monitor availability online, place the order when it comes available and then call customer service with reference to both order #'s.

I'm happy with that.

Scored a purple bucket at orem store for 26$. pays to ask the fish dude to check the back store room for the last bucket lol. Would have much rather had the reef crystals but I'll take it.
