I would use the reflectors as well.

    Author: Mark Peterson
Subject: 66804
Posted: September 28 2013 at 10:37am

Aloha,

Looking for info on the Ecoxotic Stunner Strips. I'm wondering if those will work for my Dentists reef tank that I set up and maintain.

While I was out of town, his Marineland LED power supply shorted out so he bought a Hamilton LED. Trouble is, it's too blue for him. Good thing is, the Hamilton is only 2" wide which works really great for this 4.5" thin tank on the wall.

I need to know if 3 of the 12" Magenta/12K White Stunner Strips lined up next to the 48" Hamilton would offset the blue and help colors pop. If not, please make suggestions on what may work.

I see that Ecoxotic sells a reflector which they claim doubles the light. If I have to use a reflector it will take up the space gained by using the slender Hamiton fixture. It makes me wonder if the stunner strips are just christmas lights? I already tried an LED light strip that changes color because the Dentist thought that would be cool. The LED's were in those tear drop plastic lenses. They were not bright enough to be seen at all.

Mahalo,
Mark

If you're curious, here's a pic of how the wall tank looked after I set it up for him 3 years ago. Prior to that it was a sad looking, overheated freshwater tank where fish were jumping out all the time.

Here is how it looked just last week with the Marineland light before it went out.
