Ok, for those who may be interested, DWV PVC fittings are available at Mountain States Plumbing Supply, both in SL and in Layton.  I learned that they are popular in the east, but not here, and I also learned that they are almost as cheap as the ABS (within a quarter or so).  They claim that since PVC is solid core, it dampens water noise more than ABS pipe.  Good to know when you're building a basement sump!

The advantage here is that they readily adapt to other common PVC fittings instead of mix and match ABS with PVC (as I almost did).

You could check with Standard Plumbing Supply in Bountiful, but would be more likely to find these at Mountain States on 33rd So. and about 250W. in SLC.

Personally, I like ABS. Black is less obtrusive, less noticable. I use ABS for all drainwork on aquariums.

I know you can get them at actual plumbing supply stores.  I know a few in Utah county, but I see you're up in Weber/Davis so I'd suggest you look for local plumbing supply stores in the yellow pages.  Tell them you want DWV PVC fittings.

Does anyone know where I might find some drain pipe fittings in PVC?  I'm looking for 1-1/2" and 2" drain Y's and long ell's. I know I can get them in ABS just about at any plumbing supply, but I can't seem to find the PVC.  

I was just out on a jobsite where they were using such fittings, so I know that they are around.
