Hey Ric, Sorry I haven't gotten back with plans yet, if it's ok with you it'd actually be easier for me to build you one than to draw it. I'm better with power tools than autocad. The materials are nearly nil costwise so I'd be happy to just do it for future frag consideration someday.

New question: what does everyone use for the frame?  2x2s would take up most of space, might as well use 2x4 and skip the skin.  1x1 would fit just right, but would it be strong enough?

OK, an actual measurement of the stuff I used turns out to be 3/8 of aninch, not 5/8.  But now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure itwas labeled 1/2 inch.  So yeah, an actual 1/2 inch thick sheet ofplywood would be lots better.

Also, I only simply screwed on another layer as "frame" so I think if Ihad started out with a good frame first, then applied the skin, itwould have turned out tons better.

True it's better, but also heavier, 1/2" will be plenty strong and not too heavy, but use either. any ply will warp given time and moisture, sealing both sides well will prevent this.

here is the canopy i built for my 30 gal, the top flips up obviouslyand it is made of just clear pine so it was cheap.  i'd be happyto help anyone make one some saturday if you supply the wood and beer =)

I'm embarassed to say I don't know the wood species.  Probablypine.  I bought two 2' x 4' sheets from Home Depot.  It had areally nice finished side, and was CHEAP!  That's probably why itwarped. 

Oh, I was thinking about putting the hinge on the top, about 4 inchesfrom the back, so that it hinged up and back and could rest against thewall.  There's only about an inch and a half between the wall andthe back of the tank.

You know, maybe it was 3/8 inch plywood, not 5/8 inch.  I'll haveto double check when I get hom tonight.  I'd think 5/8 would bebetter than 1/2, that's why I'm wondering if my un-cool over 30 brainis mis-remembering. 

The outside dimensions of the tank are 30 3/8 long by 12 7/16wide.  I wish I had some frags to trade, but unless you want someAiptasia (which crowded out all the sps in my 150) I'll settle for some basicplans.  Thanks!
