Yes my tank is a little over built, but that's the way I like it. the size of my tank specs 5/8" glass to be safe for rimless. The place that built my tank didn't have 5/8" so I just had them up it to 3/4"]]>

Acrylic is the type that you need a solid top.<br /><br />Euro-bracing defeats the rimless look but can cut down on the splashes.<br /><br />Tyler's tank is really overbuilt.<br /><br />Corey]]>

If you notice on rimless tanks the glass is thicker for two reasons, (1) so the glass will not bow and (2) to give more silicone bonding area = stronger joint. Also most custom tank builders use an industrial adhesive silicone which is much stronger then your typical silicone and has a much higher psi rating. I have a 48x30x22 rimless built out of 3/4" starphire glass with a 2" eurobrace around the bottom so the silicone joint is 1-1/2" at the bottom, I would trust this tank more then your typical tank I don't think its going anywhere.<img src="http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" alt="LOL" title="LOL" /></div><span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by Elite-Aquatics - July&nbsp;25&nbsp;2012 at 7:26pm</span>]]>
