Which for a new guy there are lots of different types but typically in aquaria they use 10k, 14k or 20k bulbs. 10 k is towards the yellow more sunlight spectra and 20k is more blue. 14k is right in the middle, but color can vary by brand as well.

Phoenix 14k's are very blue but an Ushio 14k is very yellow.

I've switched to 20k and I quite like the way it makes my corals pop. Some people might think it's too blue but I really like it and I'm still getting really good growth.

Also with 20k you'll get better coral color but now as good growth and 10k is the opposite.. good growth, no color.

You can purchase Different type of Kelving rating to get more Brighter colorations. I have a biocube hqi.  It has the standard metal Halides that come with the unit.  Do I need any additional lighting to get the best colors out of my corals?
