You could just extend a strip of plastic mesh from the top of the baffle - like the 1/4" or 1/8" stuff.  Extend it an inch or so above the water level.

IMHO, teeth aren't needed in refugium/sump baffles as much as they are in the main tank (to prevent snails, etc from getting into the overflow).

I rarely see the "teeth" between baffles in a sump. If you make a good bubble trap before your return you should be good to go.

Snails go where they want to go, IME.
