You could always buy a new DI cartridge ...

But then you would miss out on all the caustic stuff that jfinch mentioned. What fun would that be.

BTW - muratic acid is the bomb for removing hard water stains off of stainless steal props! In a nutshell:

Take the DI cartridge apart.  Pour the resins into a plastic container (or use the container they're in).  Add enough caustic solution (either NaOH or KOH) to allow the cation resin to sink and the anion resin to float.  Remove the anion resin (usually brown) let soak in caustic solution.  Remove the cation resin (usually blue) from the bottom of the first container (or just decant all the caustic solution out).  Rinse with some water.  Then add some muratic acid (HCl) to the cation.  Let these soak for an hour or so, then rinse and put back together.  I'd keep the resins separate from then on, you won't have to separate them each time.
