Equipment : Large AC/DC Return Pumps

I have a Jabao DC pump and really like it, it has been running 3 months.Prior to the I have used rio pumps.
I like the flow control you get with the DC pumps, you get a lot more control and don't have to use back pressure to solve for to much mater, you just turn the pump down.
I only have the return line being fed off of the pump, I'm not running anything else on it.
I'm running my old rio to power my reactors.

Aquarium Related Classifieds : In need of multiple apex parts

Do they have to be neptune branded? I have a couple of auto feeders that are not Neptune but have been modified to work with the apex. COR pumps are too new to find a used one yet, I think you are going to have to get that new.
What "sensors that have the alarm" are you talking about? I know that they make sensors (leak detions, water level, etc) but I don't know of any that have an alarm without connecting them to an FMM, Breakout box, or some other module to provide the alarm. Talk to BenchTanks here on the forum as he mentioned at the last meeting that he has leak detectors that work with the apex and are innexpensive.
Not a big setup but needs three apex's to run it? That's crazy. I have a pretty significant apex setup on my main tank and if I could get a cable to the other room I would add all of it's modules to my main Apex as well so I didn't have to manage more than one. lol

I need a couple auto feeders, an ato would be willing to trade my tunze toward a Neptune. Another cor 20 pump. A couple sensors that have the alarm. 2 fmm, some water detector alarms. Just to name a couple. It’s not a big setup I just leave town a lot and prefer something nice to control my tank with.

I thought I was crazy having two apex's (they are in different areas of the house so running a long cable wasn't practical) You must have quite the setup to need 3 of them!
What parts are you looking for? I'm not sure if I have spares but I would prefer to know what I'm looking for instead of just emptying boxes loking for anything I have.

For 2 years, I used Radion Gen 2 pros.  They were okay, but I upgraded to the Gen 4 pros and what a difference.  Most of my SPS has tripled in size in the last 9 months.  I'm getting really fast growth.

Like shaggydoo mentioned, the reason I went AI I’ve lesson was I didn’t have to buy an extra controller. It’s built in and the app works great. That being said Jessie, AI, and eco tech leds will all work great. There are tons of options available.

What brands do you guys recommend for Large AC or DC Return pumps that can push in the 3,200+ GPH and that is internal/submersible? What do you guys use and how long have you had them? Also have you ever done any maintenance on them?

i did upgrade the pump from the stock to a sicce 1.5, as i've heard the stock pump is noisy. thats the only thing i've upgraded on the tank. i run an AI Prime HD for light, no skimmer, i did get some 3D printed floss holders and got rid of the filter socks. Im also running marine pure blocks in the rear chambers as well.

I just want to chime in and say you can't go wrong with the AI Hydra HD lights. They have wifi built in and you don't need any fancy controllers; just an app on your phone will do the trick. The customization with these lights is superb.

Yes, lots of options. I know that Bulk reef supply has done a lot of tests on lots of the main brands of lights. You could get some info from their videos. I like how they go through the par levels in several configurations and layouts of the same basic light. I watched their episode on the AI primes. These are smaller lower powered units but when they put 4 of them in a row they still produced par in the 175-250 range through most of the tank.  I decided on 4 kessil A160s because they were similar to the ai primes in output but simpler to use. I also added 2 t5 bulbs to even out the lighting some more. I never liked the idea of buying a 700 dollar light to only run it at 30%. The 4 kessils give me lots of coverage for a lower price and I could add more if I want to keep more sps.
I agree with kevin.st I think that it is not so much about what lights you choose. Most modern lighting techniques are adequate and you should just pick a light that gives you the features that you want.

Yeah the IM Lagoon looks sweet, definitely love the shallow look. Heard you have to upgrade the pump and some equipment on it though, did you run into that?
I'd love a proper sump but  in this case, it'll be a countertop unit so will just use the stock back sump.

i really love my Innovative Marine 25 lagoon. I don't know if you're into shallow tanks, but its a great build, and is a large footprint. The tank is shallow enough that you don't have to go swimming every time a coral gets knocked over. I would absolutely recommend it. The hardest part is finding a stand. I had to have one custom made for me (by a WMAS member). There are commercial options available, the new APS stands are available, but i don't think they're necessarily attractive.
