HELLO back. Not sure about all the yelling in here so listen close to make sure you can here me over that noise.  First note: raising Mag with a standard magnesium supplement has a very low success rate with Bryopsis. Use Kent Tech-m brand as there is an additional component that makes it work. Second note: there are a few fish that sometimes help with this issue. They are not 100% however so your mileage may vary. The one's that I have had success with include Foxface rabbit fish, Rainfordi goby's, copper banded butterfly. With the exception of the goby the other fish have risks that you should know about before putting them into a reef setup. Mainly specialized diets or a like for other sea life that may be in your tank. I have fought bryopsis as well a few years ago I boasted my mag with Kent tech-m to 1350 for a few weeks and never had anymore issues ------------- |

Bryopsis sucks. how big is the tank? Ive been battling it in a 14g biocube. I have to take the rocks out and put them in my 125 where my foxface/yellow tang will eat it. |

Aloha to you. Yes, Kent Tech M is the stuff, raising Mg up in the direction of 1800ppm. The Bryopsis will go yellowish and decompose. That said, are you absolutely sure it's Bryopsis? The reason I ask is that Hair Algae is sometimes mistaken for Bryopsis. New hobbyists often don't keep enough Snails, which lets an algae bloom develop. Almost 1 Snail/gal is the rule of thumb. Luckily, we have two LFS in the valley that sell Snails and Hermits for $0.50 - 0.75 each.
