If you missed the May meeting, you missed a good one!

The guest speaker was none other than up-and-coming Reefkeeping Phenom Adam Jackson Clap

Adam gave an awesome presentation entitled "Chosing Suitable Fishes for the Home Reef Aquarium"...

We moved things around from the usual order of business this time (due to technical difficulties with our projection system - technically, we couldn't find it for the first 15 minutes of the meeting LOL) and started off with our speaker first, instead of the Tank Of The Month presentation:

Once we got the projector online, Adam was able to plug in give us the full show:

(More to come... having some more of those "technical difficulties" right now Embarrassed)

OK, let's try again -

Adam gave alot of detail on the reasons why some "good first fish" really are not good first choices after all:

Adam also took the time to highlight some fish choices that are often overlooked in a newer reef system. He talked about rabbitfishes and their propensity to keep nuisance algaes under control, for example:

As a conscientious hobbysist, Adam spoke at length about the growing need for sustainablity in our hobby and on the reefs in general:

For a (relatively) young guy, he sure knows his stuff! Clap

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the presentation, we took a short break for some sweet treats - graciously provided (as always) by Ross & Carolyn Bagshaw StarStarStar

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And our friend Dave from Reef Kingdom was back with a frag tank full of some truly SWEET stuff Thumbs Up
I snagged an real nice Orange Fuzzy Caphastrea (spelling?) that is about the size of half a ping-pong ball and glows a nice rusty orange Cool

(...I'll be back a little later with the rest of the recap...)

After the intermission, we moved onto the Tank of The Month (TOTM); May's TOTM presented the fabulous 24 gal Nanocube belonging to Jackie Stuver (bstuver):

For a more detailed look at Jackie's awesome TOTM, pick up the May 2012 TOTM thread here:

After the TOTM, guest speaker Adam Jackson took questions from the audience and gave tips and advice on choosing the right fishes for some of our Members specific tanks and situations

He also invited the audience to keep in touch with him via Twitter, Facebook, and his WetWebMedia and GMail addresses... nothing like reaching out and getting free expert advice, anytime... pretty COOL Adam! Cool

We ended the meeting with our monthly Door Prize drawings Clap

Some of the winners included -

Thanks to our special Guest Speaker Adam Jackson Clap, thanks to everyone who pitched in with the setup and cleanup for the meeting Clap, and most of all THANKS to all of you who attended and help make the monthly WMAS Club meetings the BEST they can be ClapClapClap
