I have been looking for a midas blenny for months now, but haven't seen one at a lfs. I hear that stores have them occasionally, but I'm tired of waiting. I noticed an the marine depot thread that several people wanted a midas blenny. I talked to several online retailers, and both marinedepotlive.com and liveaquaria.com could accomodate an order up to 10 or 15. They both charge $35 to ship the order. They are $26 at marinedepotlive.com, and are on sale at liveaquaria.com for $25 (normally $29). I'd like to put together a group order so that we can split the shipping cost. I don't care which site we go through, because $1 isn't that much. It comes down to which site has other stuff people are interested in. Who is interested in ordering from one of these sites, what would you like, and do you have a preference for which site we use? Brady

I would like a midas blenny too! count me in. I havent had any experience with marine depot, but the liveaquaria order i received last week (sorry, should have asked about it then!) was well packed and there is a 14 day guarantee on the fish.. so they get my vote. I can paypal you some money once the order is placed, unfortunately i cant front the cash for a whole group order, still a lowly grad student.
Keep us posted!

Marine Depot has always been great. Normally 2 day delivery on dry goods. I've never ordered any livestock from them. Have you asked the LFS to order you a midas? I'm sure they would bring one in for you.

I have tried a few LFS several times and they cant seem to get any in. I think Mike and Brady have had the same experience.

Aquatic dreams does have one for $29. When you add the gas money, it just costs more to get there than it's worth, plus it takes an entire evening, and my wife wouldn't like the sound of "I won't be home from work tomorrow until 8 because I'm going to Ogden to get a fish." In her mind she would hear "I'd rather be in my car than spending time with you, can I please sleep on the couch."

Anyone else interested? If not, I'm thinking we could place the order today. If so, I'm willing to wait. Even if your only mostly sure you want in, I'm willing to wait.

For liveaquaria.com, unless we pay an extra $12.50 for Saturday delivery, we're too late to order anything today. We'll just need to place the order Monday by 8:30 am our time, in order to have it Tuesday. Does that work for you guys? My wife is willing to have it delivered to our house to pick it up, but she wouldn't complain if someone else wanted it to their house. I live in Sandy about a block from Keodog.

It works for me. How many folks are interested? I live in west jordan, but no one will be home during the day. I had stuff delivered to work (U of U chemistry) last time and basically took it off the fed ex truck at ~930.

I just got an email from saltwaterfish.com saying they just got some in stock. I don't know how many, but they are only $22.99, and if we order $80 worth, the shipping is free with just a $10 surcharge. If the three of us went in on it, we'd be in about $26 a fish after the surcharge, which is about what the others are BEFORE shipping. I'm sure I could find something else I want to put us over the $80 mark. They ship FEDEX priority overnight and have a 15 day guarentee. I've heard good things about them in the past. They rarely have midas blennies in, so they probably won't last long. Brian and Mike, what do you think? Should I quickly place the order?

The midas blennies are no longer on sale. I called and they said they could give me the price if I ordered over the phone right then. I placed the order for the blennies, including a black sailfin blenny. They will be shipped Monday, and arrive Tuesday morning.

The order has been placed, however, it doesn't ship until Monday. I'll see if I can add some. How many would you like?
By the way, the pet factory has them for only $5 (I bought two from them a few weeks ago). They are $8.99 on liveaquaria.com. I'd get them from the pet factory, it'll save you money (plus chipping in on shipping), you won't have to hassle with meeting up with me, and best of all, you'll support a local store.
Let me know if you want me to add them to the online order.

It's hard to beat $5.00 for peppermints and support a LFS too! Heck, I would have gladly supported the LFS if they could have got the fish for me. I've been trying for about 5 months to get a Midas Blenny locally.

What a beautiful fish! I would say they are really the large variety instead of the medium variety that we paid for. Definately one of the coolest fish in the tank now. And no problems with other fish....that is ALWAYS a plus for my tank. Thanks, Brady

These fish are so cool!! I love the coloration (so does my wife, which makes it even better). Mine is an orangey-pinky-yellowy color... alot like those anthias (surprise surprise). Mine was eating cyclopeeze the night after i brought it home and was eating flake last night.

I love mine too! He's still hiding under a rock most of the time, but has come out to eat cyclopeaze, brine shrimp, and flake. Such a beautiful, different fish.

I'm so glad to hear both of yours are eating. So far mine ignores flake and clyclopeeze. I ran out of frozen but will get more this afternoon.
